Admissions
When applying to medical school, all applicants will need to take an admissions test to be considered for an interview. Both exams are two hours and use aptitudes to test the way you think and assess skills across different sections. 
The University Clinical Aptitude Test (UCAT)
  • Can be taken between July and September 2021 
  • Computer based test
  • 5 multiple choice sections including verbal reasoning, decision making, abstract reasoning, quantitative reasoning and situational judgement 
The BioMedical Admissions Test (BMAT)
  • Can be taken November 2021 with registration opening in September 2021 
  • Mixture of multiple choice and writing test 
  • Three-part test with multiple choice aptitude and skills, scientific knowledge and application and essay writing test 
Registration is required at assessment centres for the UCAT and BMAT and depending on the university, they will ask for either of the two.
